Can minors get laser vision correction?
April 7th, 2010 | by admin |Can kids under the age of 20 from 12-18 get laser vision correction if they have astigatism? How much does it generally cost?
Also what are the risks? is Lasik a good company?
In the US, the FDA restricts laser vision correction to only those at least 18 years of age. Of course, there are other concerns that go into deciding if you are a good candidate for the procedure BUT it cannot be done until you are at least 18.

I’m fairly certain that they don’t recommend any sort of laser correction until you reach your early to mid-twenties. The reason being that your eyes will continue to mature until then (or as my optometrist says, they won’t stabilise until you get to that age range).
If you’re really keen on it, you should go and confirm this with your optometrist and find out for certain.

It’s not recommended to get laser vision correction until you’re 21 because that’s when your prescription starts settling down.
